Story

A Light that Doesn’t Dim is a dramatic-horror film following Hermana Jones, an American sister missionary serving in a rural town in Mexico. The story follows Jones as she earnestly tries to do as she is told and live up to her family’s ideals. She wants to please those around her and those who have expectations of her, but she needs to go home and be true to herself. The project explores whether faith can deliver someone from terror, the cultural clash of being a missionary on international soil, and a coming-of-age story of a woman learning to choose that which is best for herself. At its core, I view the project as a tragedy. A tragedy in which Hermana Jones is afforded the opportunity to change and lead a life where she does not live up to her family’s expectations, but ultimately chooses to forego that decision and dismisses her own well-being.
